MESSAGE FROM LAURA BLIGH, THE WEBMASTER OF THE EVA CASSIDY WEB SITE:
Someone once e-mailed me to ask, "Who are you and why do you have this web site?" Here is the answer:
When I started the Eva Cassidy Web Site in early 1999, it was hard to get information about Eva Cassidy. She was very unknown in the music world, but the people who heard her voice tended to become instant fanatics. I wanted to help Eva's fans find out more about her. Creating the web site was intended both to promote Eva's music and to honor her memory.
Since that time, Eva's fame has grown enormously, and the web site has grown too. I am particularly proud of the interviews and articles I have done especially for the site. The Eva Cassidy Guestbook connected with the site has also been a source of much interest -- to Eva's parents, family, friends, and musical colleagues as well as to her fans. The site's Amazon Associates fundraiser has contributed nearly $15,000 to melanoma research at Johns Hopkins University!
Who am I? I'm one of Eva's many cousins (her father and my mother are brother and sister). I'm not a journalist or a web designer. The web site is not an "official site," because Eva is not here to assign that designation, and it is not sponsored by the record company. It is strictly a personal endeavor, written and financed by myself alone. Many wonderful people give me assistance, however, and I make a point of thanking them whenever appropriate.
Since the Eva Cassidy Web Site is about Eva, not about me, I prefer to be something of a "mystery woman." My face is not visible in the photo above, so if you are wondering what I look like, you are free to imagine that I look like Nicole Kidman. Here's some personal information, if you're really interested: I'm three years older than Eva, I have two kids, I do a lot of volunteer work for their schools, and I am attempting to be a screenwriter in my spare time. I can get very boring on the subject of energy conservation, so don't ask me about my Toyota Prius or about signing up to power your house with "green" electricity unless you really want to know. I play the flute pretty well but I realized long ago that I'd never be in Eva's league! At present I'm working on a project to set the Bill of Rights to music to make it easier for all of us to memorize these essential safeguards on our civil liberties.
E-MAIL INFORMATION:
Sadly, it is no longer possible for me to reply to all the e-mail I receive. Often I receive messages that should actually be directed elsewhere. Before you send me any e-mail, please note the following:
- General comments about Eva's music should be posted in the New Eva Cassidy Guestbook for the enjoyment of all of Eva's fans, family, and friends. If you like the site (and I hope you do), that's the place to say so.
- Queries about licensing Eva's recordings for soundtracks, etc., should be directed to Blix Street Records.
- Most specific questions about Eva Cassidy are answered somewhere on the web site. I have answered the most frequently asked questions on the "Questions and Answers Page."
- I *do* want to hear about items that would be of interest to Eva's fans, which I might want to add to the web site. For example, if you see an article about Eva, or that mentions her, I definitely would like to know about it. Don't assume that I already do! I'd rather hear from five people than from none. If you don't see it on the "What's New" Page, please use the e-mail link below.
- Also, please let me know if you are having any problems with the web site (broken links, etc.)
Thanks for reading all that -- now, if you really do need to e-mail me, here's how to do it, and be sure Eva's name is on the subject line:

Support the hardworking musicians in your area by attending live performances. Go out to the little clubs and restaurants that offer live music, and if you like what you hear, tell the performers! Clap long and loud! And if they're selling CDs and tapes from their guitar cases, as Eva once did, support their talents and efforts that way too. As someone once wrote in the Guestbook, "There will never be another Eva Cassidy, but there will be someone else."
